Mission and Goals:
“The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice protects the public by preparing Court involved youth to be successful citizens”.
Services Provided:
The Court Service Unit provides re-entry services to persons up to age 21 if committed to state care by a juvenile court or circuit court. Services include community supervision, assistance with employment or education, support to enroll in substance use services if required. The Court Service Unit has limited financial resources but through DJJ has access to 294 funds for community services, not housing. Typically, community supervision is for a period of six months.

Criteria for Individuals to Receive Services:
Under age 18, probable cause for criminal offense or status offense, have custody/visitation dispute, have child support determination requirement, be neglected/abused, need termination of parental rights, Protective Order needed
